Description
Vivid’s first go at a conic fountain, and it turned out to be one of the best on the market. If you’ve only ever seen supermarket cone fountains, this is a different thing entirely.
It builds in two stages. It opens with a thick column of golden sparks, then develops into huge silk-like plumes of gold that climb well above head height; the box says 3 metres, but in practice it reaches 6 to 7 metres depending on conditions. Bright blue stars drift through the gold throughout, then cascade gently back down. It runs for a full 60 seconds, which is a long time for a fountain and far longer than most.
The real selling point is the noise, or rather the lack of it. Rated 1 out of 5, it’s genuinely quiet, so it’s ideal if you’ve got young children, nervous pets or close neighbours to think about. Standing at 11 inches, it also makes a good opener; light it first and it gives people something to watch while everyone gets settled, or use a pair either side of a path or marquee entrance at a wedding.
