Ghost Buster is a shaped novelty fountain that runs through a proper sequence rather than just throwing sparks. It opens with a flurry of silver before changing to coloured pearls and crackling, then green flare, white stars and a whistle. Partway through, the ghost’s eyes and mouth light up — which gets a reaction every time — and it finishes with fountains firing out of both sides like arms.

At around 90 seconds it’s genuinely long lasting. Most fountains are done inside 30, so this one earns its place in a display rather than just filling a gap.

The practical appeal is that it only needs 8 metres, so it works in any garden, and it’s ground-level so younger children can watch from reasonably close. Worth a caveat for parents though: the noise rating is low overall, but the crackling section is louder than people expect from a fountain, so it isn’t a silent item.

Best for: Halloween parties, family Bonfire Night, and anything with children watching.
